It seems like it was just the other day that I was attending the orientation here at Foothill, yet it also feels like I’ve been here for longer than I can remember. In reality, I’ve only been here for one semester. And what a semester it has been. I’ve met so many new people and experienced so many more experiences. Luckily I haven’t had any serious problems with my grades, although a couple classes could be better. People here are awesome, I’m especially surprised at how cool and relatable the teachers are here because we didn’t have much of those kinds of teachers at my last school. Don’t get me wrong, there were awesome people, but not like here. Like I said earlier, I have met a lot of new really great people at this school who I call my friends. But my really good friends are the ones that I’ve known for a while. I have had some pretty great experiences with most of my friends. Especially with my friends Travis, Cole, Sam, and Ben. But what’s really cool is getting to see all my friends here at school every day. But, I do have many other friends that don’t go to my school. Some that went to a different high school, or some that I’ve just known since I was little. I’ve kept in touch with them very well. I think that your friends make up a big part of your personality, and they are very important to have. I have a pretty good relationship with my family, even though we argue a lot. I’m trying really hard to just be nice to them 24/7 but it’s not that easy. Within one day, there is probably going to be a number of things that we won’t agree on, and it’s not easy to not say anything. But despite the arguing we are family and we love each other. We also have many bonding experiences. For example, pretty much every night when we don’t have school or work the next day and we are together, my mom, my stepdad, my brother and I rent 1-4 movies and watch them together. We also go camping a lot, and many times we go with our friends, which is a great way to bond with them as well. And as for my dad’s side, we do all kinds of things. Including camping, skateboarding, surfing, movies, theme parks, hiking, and many other things. As I mentioned earlier, I haven’t had too big of a problem with my grades. It still is a goal of mine to procrastinate less, and also to reduce the amount of stress when it comes to school work. It would be great if I could get organized and stay organized, but I can’t seem to accomplish that for a long period of time. For my 1st period, I have Spanish 1. I have pretty much no problem with grades in that class, and I think I am in the upper part of my class. I do have trouble with pronunciation though, but I pretty much have got the hang of writing and understanding Spanish. But because I have that class first period, I tend to find myself drowsing off every now and then, and have trouble staying focused. But I still get the general idea of what’s going on. I also would like to start focusing more on study abroad (which I learned about in Spanish class). That program just seems really awesome to me. I plan to keep taking Spanish until at least Spanish 3, if not 4. 2nd period, I have E.D.A. This class I have more of a problem with my grades. I haven’t had much of a problem earlier this year, but just recently I have been falling behind. Which is weird, because what we are learning isn’t mind boggling. I think I just have a problem with slacking off in that class because I underestimate it. I really enjoy most of it, especially the revolution books I have read so far. It is interesting getting to know about how computers and those kinds of things work, but it can get overwhelming after a while. And when it is overwhelming, it is boring. So that’s why I try hard to pay attention in that class now. I am definitely taking that class a lot more seriously from now on. And Mrs. P is great! Whenever I walk into her classroom and see her there, it makes my day just a little more interesting. Period 3, I have Health. I enjoy this class because it is mainly just fun. We always watch AFV (America’s Funniest home Videos) after we go through something more serious to lighten our moods. We are basically aloud to sit where ever in that class even though we have assigned seats. Mrs. F is also one of the nicest teachers I have. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her yell at someone… unless she was joking around. I haven’t really had any struggle with my grades in that class, although there are a couple of homework assignments that I never turned in. But I always look forward to that class. My period 4 class is P.E. I’m taking the class at Mavericks gym, but on Mondays we stay at school, or go to the park. One thing that I think is really cool about this class is that we get to have a membership to the gym, so we can go whenever we want. I really want to make a schedule where I go every Monday or Friday, or both. I’ve just never gotten around to it. For the actual class, recently I was just able to go on the “floor” and use the machines and work out the way that I wanted, but I have to go into certain classes like spinning and something called body pump etc. That kind of sucks to me because I thought at the beginning of the year that I was just going to be able to work out the way I pleased, so I might do something else for P.E. next semester. For my 5th period class, I have Algebra 1. I took this class last year but didn’t do too well. Although my teacher still put me in Geometry, I chose to retake this class, because I didn’t feel like I had a good grip on the material. This makes this class a little bit easier since I already learned this stuff. Although, I do still get lost plenty of times when it comes to changing standard form into slope intercept form and things like that. It’s not so much of the actual math that I have trouble with, but remembering all the formulas and all the rules. And sometimes, on math tests, I’ll get the answer and feel confident, but then the answer I got won’t be one of the choices. That’s why I like classes like English where there is no specific right and wrong answer. 6th period I have Biology. I also struggle with this class. Not only is it confusing to me, but it’s getting toward the end of the day, so it’s hard to focus. At the beginning of the year, I thought I would really enjoy the class, and it would be easy, but it’s not what I expected at all. It’s kind of like math in a way, but instead of numbers, it’s microscopic cells. But when I do understand what’s going on, it’s really interesting. It’s amazing to see how something as small as a molecule is so complicated. For 7th period I have English, which is the class that I am doing this paper for. I really enjoy English, because it is just naturally easier for me. I really enjoy reading, and also creating stories, and writing them. Also the class itself is cool. For one thing, we rarely ever get homework, which is great because it reduces the stress level enormously. Also, it is really relaxing and easy going, which is great for the end of the day, but it also makes you think about things, not like math does, but in a way that is enjoyable. Plus Mr. G is a really cool teacher, and I’m not just saying that because he is going to read this. I think English is one of my favorite classes that I have. But anyway, that’s pretty much how my semester has gone. I have already had some great experiences at high school that I will remember, and I hope to make many more.
